Acclaimed Blues Rock guitarist and vocalist Anthony Gomes is back with his much-anticipated 14th studio album, Praise the Loud, set for release on Friday, April 25, 2025, via Rat Pak Records. Following the success of his 2022 #1 Billboard-charting album High Voltage Blues, Praise the Loud delivers 12 fresh studio tracks that showcase Anthony's musical evolution while staying true to the no-holds-barred sound that has earned him a global fanbase.
Reflecting on the new album, Anthony shares, "On Praise the Loud, we pushed our musical boundaries in every direction. We wanted it to rock harder than anything we've done before, but at the same time, we wanted it to have a deeper, more soulful blues feel. My favorite line on the album comes from the song 'Rock & Roll Bluesman': 'I don't care if they love or hate us, gonna turn it up so they won't forget us.' That line captures the spirit of the album-declaring that we're playing blues rock on our own terms, no matter what." From the powerful rhythms of the album opener "Praise the Loud" to the ZZ Top-inspired groove of "Netflix & Chill, " Anthony tackles a range of emotions and topics with his signature blend of layered harmonies, infectious rhythms, and blues-infused grooves. Tracks like "Meet My Maker, " "Black Diamond Heavy, " and "Electric Blues Crusade" highlight his ability to stretch his creative boundaries and expand his lyrical scope, while songs like "Love Song Gone Wrong" and "In the Name of the Blues" showcase his unmistakable blues guitar mastery. Produced by Peter Carson/Anthony Gomes and mixed by Chris Collier, Praise the Loud packs all the punch and energy fans have come to expect from this world-class blues artist.

Holding his black Gibson Flying V straight up as it emits smoke from it body and crouched in full mouth open vocals against a dark blue sky, Anthony Gomes invites his CD purchaser to come on in and join him in “Praising The Loud.” This cover is no sham as Gomes delivers a dozen of his songs, two co-written with Jim Peterik, into a loud, listenable, and indeed praiseworthy CD.
Instead of listing his backing musicians as such, he describes them temptingly as his “Cast of Characters.” Head of the cast is Gomes on both envious and loud guitar along with vocals, Ivan Krnic and Jacob Mrean on bass, Bobby Stone Jr. and Chris Whited on drums, Ariel Perchuk and Neemias Teixeira on keys and six background vocalists.
The oh so talented Chris Leuzinger is singled out with a credit of his beautiful acoustic guitar playing on the lovely “Love Song Gone Wrong.” It’s a stand out track on Praise The Loud. Gomes’ vocals are a colored in a shade of sensitive and passionate as the acoustic guitar frames the lyrics, “I found out what I should’ve known all along, the blues is a love song gone wrong gone wrong.” Not to be overlooked, Gomes then beautifully sprinkles in in his spot-on electric guitar notes like a well appreciated rain to bring this tune to life. Ahh!
Anthony Gomes is renowned for his good looks, strong vocals, and superlative guitar skills. However, do not let all that fool you as his writing is his secret weapon. Check out the line in “True That,” “She said listen to me baby, you know my love’s a crime, I’ve had 20 husbands, but only two of them were mine!” Doesn’t get any better than that, wouldn’t you agree?” How about these lines in “Inside Out:” “Take a million people and look beyond their shell, the beauty on the outside is one drop in the well. Inside out, I’m gonna love you inside out…”
Gomes opening track, “Praise The Loud,” acts as his mandate for his calling with, “You take some Muddy Waters and you turn it up to ten. You take some Howlin’ Wolf and you turn it up again. If you’re gonna do well you better do it right. Gonna rock up the blues with big guitar dynamite and power up your soul with a million decibels. We gotta praise the loud.”
Eighteen CDs and counting. There is good reason to continue to seek out Anthony Gomes’ talented output to bolster your rock/blues listening pleasure. Praise The Loud with its 11-page booklet replete with color photos and lyrics is well worth snagging!
