Product Description
The Rusty Wright Band is one kickin' unit that delivers blues/rock and roots music like the Hounds of H*** are lapping at their heels and their butts are on fire. Wright is a master storyteller, telling stories that we can all relate to, having been there at least once on this crazy ride we call life. Wright takes all those confusing bits and pieces, chews them up, mulls over them a bit and spits them out in a way that we can all somehow understand. Alright, the purists have a point, this is more a Southern Rock thing than Blues but from the start southern rock was infused with a bit of blues. The days of Muddy Waters, Wolf, Willie Dixon, Little Walter and the gang are gone. Wish as we might, those cats are gone. It is up to us to assure that they never get forgotten and bands like the Rusty Wright Band honor them in the best way that they know how...take those elements of blues and very early rock and present them to a contemporary audience. There is a part of me that wishes it was possible to go back to a time when blues was well-defined but while I can wish with all my heart, it's like my Grandpa always said, Wish in one hand, junk in the other and see which one fills up first. Now it's time to get down to the basics. The Rusty Wright Band delivers blues infused music that tells the stories we all relate to, having been there from time to time. Tell me honestly that you have not at one time or another known a Whiskey Drinkin' Woman. Blues was, is and will always be tied to the lifestyle of those who perform the music. If the music has no basis in real life, it has nothing to do with blues. That said, the Rusty Wright Band, though they deliver the music with a contemporary beat, maintains that connection with those things that their audiences can relate to and they do so with, if nothing else, a nod to the blues...in much the same way as the Allman Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and countless others. This music may rock but if the goal of the performers in Jukes of old was to give the people something to listen to, relate to and to dance to in the hope of shedding the troubles of the hard week at work, the Rusty Wright Band might just be right on the money. Check them out. You might just find that before you can decide you don't like them, you're out on the dancefloor with Miss Right...or, at the very least Miss Right Now. - Bill Wilson --Bill Wilson - Reflections In Blue
